2019 – STAGE 1 / 11 JUNE : MEGEVE – ANNECY

STEP 1 – Tuesday, June 11, 2019 : MEGEVE – EVIAN – ANNECY

Today, departure of the first stage of the 5th Rally Megève – Saint-Tropez – La Maison de la Literie, for a short stage including the crossing of a dozen mountain passes. It is once again from the Place de la Marie in Megève that the competitors set off for a journey to the shores of Lake Geneva and Lake Annecy, the new destination of the rally.

The caravan then took the Route des Grandes Alpes through the Aravis Massif, La Clusaz and Grand Bornand to cross never-used passes such as Colombiere in the South-North direction to reach the Arve Valley in Cluzes.
Everyone then headed to the famous winter sports resort of Morzine and its very noticed passage at the Col de Joux Plane, famous route of the championship of France of the rallies on which was organized the first passage of control where were posed the traditional questions counting for the overall classification, as well as a regularity test starting at the top, in the clouds, and extending for about ten kilometers.
The majestic Mont-Blanc, supposed to accompany us all day, however, remained hidden behind a cloudy weather before joining the Col du Corbier and thus toise the Lac Léman theater lunch organized on the heights of Evian.

The afternoon offered a significant difference in height, with many passages of mountain passes and as many opportunities to feast behind the wheel, in large series of turns where the rally was able to discover the massif des Glières, gate of entrance of the massif opening the doors of Lake Annecy. The arrival was planned early in the afternoon in Menthon and its palace where everyone could enjoy the breathtaking view of the azure lake between the peaks.

We will meet you tomorrow for the second leg that will join Annecy to Serre Chevalier in a course still offering the crossing of the largest passes in the Alps.
