stage #1: MegÈve – Val d’IsÈre – L’Alpe d’Huez – june 14, 2022
Starting from the town hall square in Megève, the rally took the direction of Alpe d’Huez under a radiant sun, following an exceptional route for the first stage.
We first had to cross the Col des Saisies and the Cormet de Roselend which are now obligatory passages of the Megève-St-Tropez rally. The “Cormet” hosted the first passage control and the traditional “Quizzes”, the hallmark of Cyril Neveu Promotion events.
Once arrived in Bourg-St-Maurice, it was necessary to reach Val d’Isère where lunch was organized, before then taking the road to the famous Col de l’Iseran and its passage at more than 2700m.
The descent of this giant of the Alps took place via the Maurienne valley before climbing in turn the Col du Télégraphe then the Col du Galibier, the other big part of this stage, which the local authorities were kind enough to open to us for the occasion while asphalt repair work was underway.
The Col du Lautaret followed immediately before then descending towards Alpe d’Huez and these hairpins where the evening and the night are organized in the resort, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding peaks.
