STAGE 1 :
MEGEVE – MEGEVE

May 27, 2015 – First step (Megève – Megève): Between mounts and marvels

Blue sky, sun, spring temperatures … all the ingredients were there at 14.45, Place de la Mairie, in Megève, for the start of the first edition of the rally Megève-St Tropez Classic.
The program includes 95 km of winding roads through the Aravis. A short step to gauge the machines and to compete with hairpins and turns that never end. No fewer than four passes, regularly used by the riders of the Tour de France, marked the first step: Col de l’Epine, Col du Marais, Col de la Croix and Col des Aravis, peaking at nearly 1,500 meters and offering dazzling views on the majestic Mont Blanc.

But before that, the icing on the cake was the gymkhana that ran the 42 competitors at the Palais des Sports. This is Wiederin / Wiederin crew on a Jaguar C-Type from 1954 who won, by a tenth of a second, ahead Guerin / Dupeyroux on a Porsche 356 B Super 90 1961 and Trutat / Granerau their Lotus Elite S3. Tomorrow, the 317 kilometers will lead competitors to Montgenèvre. The day will be long!
